Theme 5: Heroes

Today, we are launching Theme 5:  Heroes in our Houghton Mifflin Reading Anthology.  We read the poem “A Song of Greatness,” a Chippewa song translated by Mary Austin.  Our homework assignment tonight is to write and memorize the poem for tomorrow’s poetry recital.  Here is an example of one student’s work:
